New music from HSQ April 7th, 2012

We absolutely LOVE trying out new music to add to our huge repertoire. Today we played for the first time – Play that Funky Music and Yellow by Coldplay – both went down a storm :-)

Nottingham Law School’s Fire Ball March 29th, 2012

A fiery, upbeat tempo for tonight’s event at Colwick Hall.

A red theme, fire dancers and lots of very happy law students gathered in the Lakeside Pavillion for a very successful ball.

THE BIG DRAW October 27th, 2007

Southwell Open Studios hosted ‘The National Big Draw’ in Southwell Minster on Saturday 27th October.

Sarah Huson, the cellist from Highly Strung String Quartet played in the crossing whilst inspired artists drew her.

Concert in Southwell Minster September 22nd, 2007

Highly Strung shared a stage with the Lincoln Singers in the beautiful setting of Southwell Minster on 22nd September.

They opened the first half with a Mozart Divertimento followed by Dvorak’s 5th Quartet in F minor.

In the second half, the quartet accompanied the choir in several pieces and also performed the haunting Barber’s Adagio from the back of the Minster.

Concert at the Guildford Institute November 25th, 2006

Highly Strung performed Schubert’s ‘Death and the Maiden’ quartet at the Guildford Institute on 25th November. Their programme also included movements from the Tchaikovsky quartet and some Latin American music.
